Dr. Melinda Hammond

Melinda D. Hammond, Psy.D.

Dr. Hammond offers therapy and assessment. “I am passionate about using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (or ACT) with clients. What is ACT? It’s a scientifically supported type of therapy that really works! In ACT, every client finds their own life directions, and we work together on working with your hurdles to get you closer to the life you want.

After graduating with my Psy.D. (a doctorate in Clinical Psychology) in 2014, I began teaching at the University of St. Francis in Joliet. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology, and my research and teaching have helped me continue to grow as a therapist. In the past, I’ve worked in college counseling, community mental health, in-home Autism treatment, and a large Christian Counseling organization. I am Christian and LGBTQ affirming, and welcome clients from all races and faith backgrounds.”

Assessment services are available, backed up by Dr. Hammond’s comprehensive training in testing, assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning. She provides testing services for ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Personality Disorders, Learning Disorders and difficult-to-diagnose overlaps of disorders.

Dr. Hammond’s IL license number is 071.009256, and she has APIT certification (#4989) to practice in many additional states. She can be reached at melinda@hammondpsychologicalservices.com
